Jackie Appiah has made Ghanaians in the movie industry proud by winning the Best Actress At The AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). She was nominated in the same category with Nollywood’s Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele as well as Bubu Mazibuko and Nolwazi Shange. The role she played in Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s ‘Perfect Picture’ Movie won her the prestigious award at the event.
Below are the words that came out from an excited Jackie Appiah after she won the award.
“I’m honoured, I must confess. I’m excited as well. I want to say a very big thank you to God Almighty for making this award possible. But most importantly, I dedicate this award to Shirley Frimpong Manso for giving me the opportunity to take part in her movie. It has brought us lots of awards. It has taken us far. Thank you Shirley Frimpong Manso, I respect you and salute you,”
She also thanked her fans for taking time off their busy schedules to vote for her. Their votes didn’t go to waste and I give God all the glory for that and I’m grateful
The category Jackie was nominated into was a top category, Nollywood’s Genevieve Nnaji was actally the favorite to win the award. She is currently the the first Ghanaian actress to win one of the biggest awards at the event. Her name will go down in the history books of African cinema and the awards.
