Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr., known by his stage name Shatta Wale has for the past years been in the news mostly for bad reasons. After he expressed his anger at the 2013 Ghana Music Awards after deservedly losing the Reggae Dancehall Song of the Year Award to Kaakie, most reports about the reigning artiste of the year have been negative.
While the media was on him for his conduct, Shatta Wale on the other was earning through those bad reportage. The “Dancehall Commando” hitmaker on Wednesday, 26 November 2014 earned Gh 16,000 from MiPromo. The money given to the Reggae/dancehall artiste was from revenue he generated from his YouTube videos.
Shatta Wale announcing the success of bad news written about him said “those bad news about shattawale turned into money”. In that sense, he meant the many bad publications about his career gave him more publicity for people to watch his videos on YouTube which has earned him that amount of money.

Shatta Wale receiving the money from MiPromo At Lincoln Hotel in Accra on Wednesday stated that he feels like Jay-Z to be earning this amount of money from online.
Nana Rofa Kissi, a Photographer and Graphic Designer for MiPromo speaking at the event urged musicians to inculcate the habit of making money online instead giving out their products out for free.
Other Ghanaian musicians who earned from monetizing their videos with MiPromo were Kwabena Kwabena, Ruff N Smooth, Pope Skinny and others.
