Nigerian Pastor Tries to Walk on Water Like Jesus, Then Drowns in Front of His Congregation

Untold News, , , , . Bookmark the permalink.

Walking on water is not easy.  Not too many people have the ability.  Let’s see, there’s Jesus, and well, that’s about it.  Unfortunately for one pastor on the West Coast of Africa, his attempt to become the second man to make this impossible feat a reality cost him his life.

Pastor Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation that he was capable of reenacting the very miracles of Jesus Christ.  He decided to make it clear through way of demonstration on Gabon’s beach in the capital city of Libreville.
Referencing Matthew 14:22-33, Kabele said that he received a revelation which told him that with enough faith he could achieve what Jesus was able to.

According to an eyewitness, Kabele took his congregation out to the beach.  He told them that he would cross the Kombo estuary by foot, which is normally a 20 minute boat ride.

Sadly by the second step into the water Kabele found himself completely submerged.  He never returned.

This is not the first incident of this nature in Africa.  At Ibadon zoo in south-west Nigeria, a self-proclaimed Prophet claimed to be able to do what the Daniel of the bible did by walking into a den full of lions.

Though he was warned numerous times by zoo keepers, according to NG Newspapers, the Prophet thought of them as nothing more than enemies of progress.  The Prophet, with a crowd of people watching, put on a long red robe and proceeded to enter the cage full of lions.

Within seconds of opening the door, the lions ripped the Prophet from flesh to bone.  The bible should come with a warning label, “Don’t try this at home.

  1. Ben says:

Even the time Jesus did it, it was in the winter and the lake was frozen with ice.

    • Jocelyne says:

Ah Mr Ben, are you sure it was winter when Jesus walked on water? The bible does not specify what season it was. If the lake was frozen why were the disciples in the boat, is that not a little silly?

    • sheila says:

Bet your Pastor told you that huh Ben?

    • TheMonarche says:

This ngger was Moron, Why didn’t he practice at home first.
If he saw that he was drowning why didn’t he swim?
Miracles only exists in the Bible

The bible should have a warning sign “Do Not Try This At Home”

      • Mike says:

Maybe it should have the label don’t practise it at all

      • Barbara says:

lol “Do not try it Home” neh #deadByLaughter

      • realitycheck3265 says:

        …and I see you’re a fckng azhole!

      • Rob says:

To those of you who make disparaging comments about other races and ethnic groups: you lose all credibility in all you write. Also, evangelicals from the USA are proselytizing poor West African countries due to their frustration over not being able to spread hatred and ignorance here. The fact some countries are devastatingly poor is not because the citizens are of low I.Q. but due to many factors they cannot control. Those of you making those comments perhaps are unaware of the fact that we all sprang from the same mother somewhere in Africa. The media widely spread the story of the neo-natzi who had his DNA analyzed and discovered he is 18% African; we all have some, so think before you make comments about people you know nothing about.

        • Bruce says:

I guess it is ok to make desparaging remarks about people religion though. Nice work Rob.

        • Sab says:

I thought Humanity started from Adam & Eve.

Back then there was no race/ethnicity/color !!!!

All of the above started a couple of thousand years later. Don’t you agree?

    • K Ranks says:

the was not frozen coz other disciples were in the boat. what this gentle men did is called “Testing God” the devil asked Jesus to jump from a high building and that the angels will hold him from falling and he said “it is written, do not test God.

      • Tebogo says:

That is true people are testing God

      • Jay says:

It didn’t happen on ice and it didn’t happen on the water. There is simply no evidence to suggest that it ever happened. He was not testing Jesus, he was testing his faith. Sadly no amount of faith can assist you in doing the impossible.

        • Doris says:

Chinese Qi Gong Masters practice walking on water but there is a trick to it.
Saw videos of Japanese masters but there was stretched fabric in the pool and they had to run fast or sink.
Pontoons on feet work but they are very large.
walking on a slightly submerged platform provides the illusion of walking on water

    • Dan says:

I sense sarcasm in your comment.

    • Wawepumudzo says:

Well said . . And they have 2 remember that there’s no miracles in the bible

    • ETHIOPIA says:

Ben the fullish. in ur thinking u r wiser than z ppl at JESUS time. and u want to say Jesus fullished them. But wat u dont know is u still fullish than our village full person

    • Gracie says:

Mr Ben Sir please mind the things you say about the Son of God

    • peace catalyst says:

AntiChrist, you should shelve Ben from your name. Did the bible not record it as water, if it was ice why did Peter sink. Next you’d say Peter was overweight. God have mercy on you

  2. Succes Joseph says:

If God sends you, He does it with the fullest of His Anointing to bringing glory to His name. This person is just guilty of what the Psamist said that King David fear happening to him (Psalms 37:19)-Presumptious Act.

  3. leni says:

    Nigeria is full of wonders

  4. Sonya says:

lol, never a dull moment with Nigerian pastors..

  5. lizzy says:

Thou shall not tempt the Lord they God

    • sheila says:

um doesn’t the bible say greater miracles then these you shall do.. its not tempting god, its calling the bible on what it says, and failing

      • Micah says:

Its pride. Just because he said he had faith in God doesn’t mean God is gonna give him the power to do a miracle. He was apparently was doing it for his own glory instead of giving the glory to God.

      • me says:

he wasnt trying for a miracle but for a show. a miracle would be if he tried to solve a problem to wich the only solution seamed impossible sudenly worked out. and that for grater good. what was he doing this for if not for his own good and opinion and prestige? he got punished for being self concerned and not thinking about others.

  7. carroll price says:

It’s a universally known fact that Africans cannot swim, and will invariably plummet to the bottom and drown in water that’s over their head.

    • uh huh says:

it has something to do with bone density, it is a little known fact that there is slightly more gravity on the african continent leading to heavier bones.

    • akin says:

Quite unintelligent! Africans do swim: nothing to do with bone density. Just one of the lies Colonizers instituted to make it seem as if Africans are inferior. I swim very well and know mny who do!

  8. Paddy says:

If we could find a North American pastor to do a remake of the “last” supper, perhaps all of the fat people would become slim.
All of the fast food joints could close after lunch and save energy while allowing their underpaid employees to study for sensible jobs.
The bible was written by people who wanted to use it as a means of controlling others. They created “thou shalt not kill” to cause us to hesitate just long enough for them to kill us.
They created “thou shalt not steal” so that all they had to do was declare that they owned an entire country and if we tried to use a tiny part of it for a garden we would be sinners unless we paid them a “tax”. It is time for a new revolution.

  9. Robert Miller says:

I think more pastors should try this.

  10. Jay says:

Of course anyone who understands the gospel message would have expected this. The problem is that fundamentalists in the west are rushing to convert Africa to a religious system that is not compatible with the African culture and naturally, the gospel is being taken as a literal history. This story is illustrates what people with a partial understanding will do with a teaching. Now the church in the west needs to focus more on understanding and applying its own teachings rather than just trying to win greater and greater numbers of “converts” who have been recruited based on a shallow emotional high, rather than real understanding of principle.

Jung showed that the principle being shown by the mythical walk on water was that the higher self could maintain its own identity on top of the ocean of infinite consciousness. If you don’t understand that, then there is no meaning to the story other than that Jesus was somehow showing off, which is ridiculous. The miracle has no meaning unless you ask what kind of psychological principle the myth is illustrating. Only when you understand that have you known that spirit of Christ. The church needs to be training men and women who have the ability to face the infinite unknown and still know what truth is. Instead its rushing to convert people who call themselves “christian” and have no clue what Christ actually taught.
The modern church in the west is focused more on quantity than quality, because they aren’t really interested in helping people become free.

  11. jaydi says:

technically we only have a book to go by on the jesus water walking and rumor has it, it may have been doctored a little bit over the last two thousand years.

to bad for the pastor. im sure you get a brownie or a pin for your lapel in the next dimension.

  12. Dave says:

Religion is bad enough when somewhat intelligent, yet gullible people fall for it, but it can be deadly when low IQ sub_Saharan savages believe it.

  13. DaveR says:

Apparently no one in the congregation could swim either or they might have swam out to help him. On the other hand maybe they’re glad he finally went off the deep end…

  14. messianic Jew says:

  15. Ryan says:

what a bummer this guy just emailed me and told me we won the lottery last week

  16. Aiban says:

I believe in the Bible. It does not encourage people to walk on water or walk into a den full of lions but to preach the word of God, to preach the good news of salvation. But people like this pastor here are idiots. Even Daniel wouldn’t have dared walk into a den full of lions intentionally just to establish his faith in the one true God unless he was forced to or thrown there.

    • tryth says:

god has never xsted faith will never move mountain ..Jesus was just a magician I can walk on top of water lyk him ..note walking on top of water provoved Jesus was fake ass.people created god n satan but their don’t exist.reason for religion xstians Muslim etc is money.

  19. Skrytis says:

    Criss Angel managed it :p

  20. Morrison says:

It is a clear thing that the power of God can not be use in a selfish way. God did not gave us his power to tempt him but to draw men into his kingdom. Jesus would have failed on his mission surposed he excercise the power. In Matthew 4:6-7, when satan told Jesus that if thou be the son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, he shall give his angels concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. But Jesus replied and said, thou shall not tempt the lord thou God. So we should not use the power of God for our selfish interest. Someone will say am gonna walk on the sea because Jesus worked on the sea. The lord did not work on the sea for selfish interest but for a very good purpose. It will be good that we learn how to exercise authority so that we will not be found want.

  24. karen k says:

This was such an idiotic act,God forbid.I can’t wait to hear of another comedian in form of a pastor trying to change water into wine.Jesus did all this, yes but he was not trying to show off, inviting people to surround him first and show Dem how he can perform all those miracles.eeeh!

  25. Gee says:

if Jesus walked on thin ice why did Peter start drowning when he got out the boats?

that pastor z disqualified frm being called a fool. his a foolestness if at all there is such a word…lol

  26. edmund-kellerson godfrey says:

Miracles are possible in this earth if you believe in God but trying to actually immitate Jesus’ actions for worldly fame? You’ll pay the price trust me. God lives.

    • Dj562 says:

I’ll believe in a god or miracles when the Titanic floats to the surface and merrily continues on its journey, or when the lost Malaysian airliner lands at its destination with all on board, not when so-and-so recovers from Ebola, or one person out of hundreds survives a train wreck, or your son graduates college. Until that time, stop judging others that don’t believe in fairy tales but choose instead to live in reality and contribute to society, rather than spew meaningless gibberish from a story based on a fictional character that had been written in various forms over the centuries. Stop living in fantasyland dreaming of death, and be a part of this world.

For this man to have believed that he could do this, well what can I say – RELIGION is downright dangerous! – This is living proof – or is it: not so living proof.

  34. JAYV says:

Wow. Religious people are so fuking stupid. You can not walk on water, it is impossible. Jesus didn’t do it either. The Bible is a work of fiction. Fuk, how can people be so retarded…

  35. Kings says:

The problem is not walking on water but why the pastor had to walk on water. The Bible is 100% TRUE and God is more than faithful to honor his Word. If the pastor was running away from danger and was surrounded by water, God will intervene. But to get up and tell the congregation that I want to walk on H20 bec Jesus did it, is shear PRIDE and demon-driven. God can never be part of it!!!

    • Frank says:

So what about other Christians who have drowned, say, in extreme distress? What about those who died in boating accidents? Where was God to help them walk on water then?

  39. Anoiting says:

Even Jesus also knows that he cannot tempt God the father nor go contrary to the voice of the father. According to (Mathew 4:7) “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test. And Jesus refuse to obey devil, I wonder why people keep on testing God just to be popular to show they can do the same as Jesus did. Such miracle can happen by unaware maybe at point of danger while traveling by the sea, God could only do that to show the world that he still the living God, but not when you intentionally practice such incredible act when God has not spoken. Many Christians don’t know the voice of God; they misinterpreted voice of God with that of devil.

Forgiveness, Mercy, Honesty, Humility and Loving fellow human beings is All that Jesus taught in various ways.
      He never threatened anyone.
He never demanded blind loyalty or to be validated. Read the book of John chapter 5 with emphasis on verse 41.
God will never take us to hell or to heaven, our actions or inactions will achieve that. Cheers everyone…

  49. Grace says:

Jesus was a God descended on Earth. Therefore, he had powers beyond those that humans have. Even those who claim to be the messengers are still ordinary humans, just more spiritually inclined. Those who scream they can do what Jesus did, are bound to fail and will pay for deluding others. Those, who truly have some powers will never scream about it. Most often they will not be widely known either as publicity is not one of their interests.

Hmm, Im not a Christain, I am a muslim. But what i do know his God will protect you if you didnt intentionally walk into the fire. But when you intentionally do it, then you are testing God. Satan told Jesus to jump but he didnt cause he said that will be testing God. David didnt walk into the Den, they kept him there. God is the greatest.

  58. Ken says:

This story initially went viral in 2006 after WND, the Christian tabloid that cares little about the truth, posted about it. It’s been repeated in several sources ever since. Needless to say, WND is not a credible source for anything.
Furthermore, I dare you to find evidence of what church Kabele led. Or pictures or video of the water-walking attempt (it was 2006; it’s not like that technology wasn’t available). Or, frankly, anything about the pastor outside of stories about how he supposedly died.
A search for the pastor’s name on the Daily Record‘s website also comes up empty.
Yes, it’s amusing to believe someone would be so foolish as to actually try walking on water… at least water that hasn’t turned into ice. But we skeptics of all people shouldn’t be so gullible as to believe this without more evidence.

  59. Ena Jr says:

  70. Philips says:

Many people(believers and unbelievers)didn’t understand Scripture and that’s why problems of the world couldn’t be solved.
Immitation of what human, prophets or Jesus had done without the holy spirit is called religious acts.Having relationship through love you have with God is Christian.Every immitation isn’t will of God again- Let me sight example, how many people were inspired by holy spirit in the Bible to say
1- Silver or gold I do not have, what I have I give rise and walk?.
2-How many group of people were put in prison and started praising God that prison doors flew opened and they refused to runaway?
3- How many were persecuted cos of God and the Lions mouths couldn’t open throughout night?.
4-How many were condemned to be burnt in furnace?.
5- My brother how many used the stick to separate red sea?
6-How many told sun to remain in a spot for days?.
7-how many led by holy spirit today to have Forty days fasting?.
Note; Are you not religious?.God is a spirit and for you to walk with God you must have is spirit independently through
    1-reading his words
    2-acting his words
    3-doing his words and
    4-living in his words
Faith is the only common things of spirit cos we face common battle(Satan) camouflage in different ways(sin).
Nobody should tempt God by doing what someone else has done through Christ.
