Michael Essien wants to stay at Chelsea for another spell under Jose Mourinho.

The Special One took the midfielder to Real Madrid on loan last season — putting the Ghana star’s Stamford Bridge future in doubt.

But with Mourinho back at Chelsea, Essien, 30, is keen to re-join the man he calls ‘Daddy’. Essien, who was brought to the Bridge by Mourinho in 2005, said: “I have got two years left on my contract. “When Mourinho wants me to do a job for him, I will do it. He is a great manager and everybody is happy to have him back.

“Jose is the right man to take the club forward.” Essien’s Chelsea career stalled after a knee injury. But he declared: “I have got my energy back and I feel I can do a job. “It was important for me to play a lot at Madrid and prove my fitness.”
